Anna was a 7 year old who liked pets and especially dogs. While she and her mom were visiting her grandparents in upstate New York, she asked her mom if they could go for ice cream. Outside of the ice cream shop was a man holding a leash for his pet, a small yorkie. Anna asked her mom if she could pet the dog; her mom asked the owner if Anna could pet the dog, and after obtaining permission to do so, Anna crouched down to pet the dog. As she did so, the dog jumped and bit her on the ear and the cheek. Mom quickly called the police and Anna was transported to the hospital where a plastic surgeon was summoned to close the wounds.
Mom tried to contact the dog's owner, but she did not know who he was or who to turn to back in Connecticut, she had the presence of mind to contact The Haymond Law Firm who assigned an attorney to prosecute the matter. The Haymond Law Firm attorney was able to identify the owner, contact his insurance company and file all of the necessary papers to obtain a hearing in the court in upstate New York to give Anna proper compensation for her fright and injuries.
