Winsted Cerebral Palsy & Medical Malpractice Lawyers

Cerebral Palsy & Medical Malpractice "Medical Malpractice" is a term meaning errors or mistakes made by hospitals, doctors, nurses or other medical professionals, which should have been avoidable if proper care and attention were used. Medical negligence during labor can lead to birth injuries that sometimes result in cerebral palsy.

Winsted medical malpractice lawyer John Haymond and his staff are completely committed towards helping families who have been injured due to medical errors and negligence. If you live in Winsted and are unable to come to our office, the attorneys of Haymond Law would be happy to visit you at your home. If you suspect that your childs cerebral palsy may have been caused by doctor negligence, please call Attorney John Haymond at 1-800-HAYMOND today for a free consultation.

Cerebral palsy is divided into three major classifications to describe the different movement impairments. These classifications reflect the area of brain damaged.

  • Spastic Cerebral Palsy (stiff and difficult movement)
  • Athetoid Cerebral Palsy (involuntary and uncontrolled movement)
  • Ataxic Cerebral Palsy (disturbed sense of balance and depth perception)
Cerebral palsy is a non-progressive disorder, meaning the brain damage does not worsen, but secondary orthopedic deformities are common. There is no known cure for CP. Medical intervention is limited to the treatment and prevention of complications possible from CP's consequences.

Several medical mistakes may have caused your child's cerebral palsy. Your physician may have administered too much pitocin, forceps may have been improperly used, a vacuum extractor could have been overused, or negligence on the part of a nurse or hospital staff member may have contributed.

The only way to thoroughly investigate a possible link between medical malpractice and cerebral palsy is to consult with an attorney experienced in handling these claims. Contact our Winsted law office today for a thorough evaluation and free consult.
