Liquor Liability Attorney
Our attorneys can help keep bars accountable.
Dram Shop or Liquor Liability cases can be brought against most businesses that sell alcohol. Dram Shop laws are implemented on the state level & currently 43 states including: Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New York, New Hampshire, Vermont, & Florida.
Dram Shop rules encourage liquor sellers to serve alcohol safely and hold sellers responsible when they don’t. Dram Shop laws are in place to protect people who are injured in alcohol-related incidents.
Larry went out for the evening on his Harley for a few drinks and stopped at a local bar he liked. After drinking for a while, he became loud and clearly intoxicated. The bartender refused to serve him unless he turned over his keys. Larry did turn over his keys, continued drinking, and ultimately went into an alcohol-induced blackout. The last thing he remembered was drinking at the bar. Despite continuing to serve him, the bartender then returned Larry’s keys to him. Larry rode away from the bar and got on the wrong side of a limited-access highway. He was struck by an oncoming vehicle and lost his right leg at the knee and his job due to the injury.
Our team at Haymond Law stepped in & fought for Larry. We established that it was a legitimate liquor liability case & the bar became responsible when they handed Larry’s keys back to him leading to a claim of negligent entrustment. After a 3 day trial, the case settled for $500,000. We got Larry the compensation he deserved!
