A jury of his peers awarded 31 year old Michael Muldoon, Sr. $250,000 for injuries he suffered in a motorcycle accident just over three years ago. The insurance company, Aetna Insurance Company, did not appeal the award. Mr. Muldoon was operating a motorcycle northbound when a southbound automobile made a left turn in front of him, violating his right of way. Despite his attempts to avoid a collision, Mr. Muldoon was thrown against the car. Originally treated at the Hospital for an elbow laceration, Mr. Muldoon incurred about $2000 in medical expenses over a two-year period in connection with the accident.

Early one evening Joe King was riding his motorcycle along with two friends. A car coming from the other direction stopped and turned suddenly, hitting Mr. King. He suffered multiple contusions and injury to his shoulder but miraculously did not sustain any permanent injuries or fractures. He was laid up for several months and was not able to return to competing in Judo, where he won several regional events shortly before the accident. Mr. King contacted the Haymond Law Firm.

Bobby Fierro, an auto body mechanic, enjoyed his job and his motorcycle, until a July, 1998 accident took both away. A car turned left across Bobby’s path and not only totaled his motorcycle, but his leg as well. The severe leg injuries led to multiple surgeries that included plates and screws for his fractured femur, tibia and fibula. As a result of the accident, the 35-year-old man was forced to move in with his mother.

Motorcyclist Jack Williams* was traveling down the highway when a car entering from the right cut him off, as often happen to motorcyclists. Jack hit the car from behind and was injured. Jack’s case looked hopeless. He was facing not only the jury’s built-in prejudice against motorcyclists, but the automatic assumption that he was at fault because he rear-ended the car. In fact, Mr. Williams’ claim was evaluated and denied by the insurance company who refused to pay him a dime.
